Sixteen Lights
When medical treatment can no longer change the course of an illness, the best thing we can do for a loved one is provide an environment of warmth and comfort. Unfortunately, during the course of an advanced illness, too many days are spent in the sterile, impersonal environment of a hospital room.
There is a very real need for quality care to fill this critical void. People with an advanced illness deserve to live life as fully as they’re able, for as long as they’re able. Especially children so much in need of love, assurance and normalcy.
The Sixteen Lights campaign is dedicated to constructing ground-breaking facilities that will bring hospice care into the 21st century. Our centerpiece facility will be the 16-suite residence at Menorah. It will be the first inpatient hospice unit in Brooklyn, and one of the few in New York to serve both children and adults. We will also be constructing the 16 studio apartments that make up Jewish Home Lifecare in the Bronx. These unique facilities will redefine hospice care by offering individuals and their families a home away from home without sacrificing the best in medical care.
