Patient Care Fund
The MJHS Patient Care Fund is dedicated to meeting the health and quality of life care needs for the patients and families of MJHS. Supported solely by charitable contributions, the fund is able to assist in the purchase of items and services deemed appropriate by the patient, patient’s family and MJHS caregivers, such as wheelchairs, walkers or grab bars.
The MJHS Foundation Patient Care Fund can be accessed to purchase items that will enhance the patients’ quality of life. Each patient is eligible for up to $500 of assistance annually through the fund. Over the last two years, assistance from the Patient Care Fund has been granted in these areas:
- Subsidizing Bills – helping patients cover expenses they must pay but are unable to. Typically these are bills that are detrimental to their well-being, such as heating or electric bills
- Medical Needs – subsidizing or supplementing costs of the patient’s medical needs
- Transportation – For those families with a loved one receiving care at one of the hospice inpatient residences, distance from the facility and access to transportation no longer pose an obstacle for families to share meaningful and loving moments together. MJHS Hospice now offers supports for families visiting a loved one at the inpatient residence.
