Getting Joseph Back on his Feet

I was wheeled into Menorah on a stretcher … Three weeks later, I walked out on my own – with stronger legs and heart.

I’m an 85-year-old liberal arts major at a local college. Before I had surgery, Menorah Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing Care was a place I walked by to and from class. Now, it’s the reason why I walk.

I was wheeled into Menorah on a stretcher after surgery for congestive heart failure. Three weeks later, I walked out on my own – with stronger legs and heart. My physical and occupational therapy team was compassionate and friendly. They were there for me every minute of every day. Ready to catch me, encourage me and push me to try my best. They were excellent teachers.

Menorah is like a full-service luxury hotel. The lobby’s huge windows overlook gardens and the beach. Staff genuinely care. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Food is delicious. And the dining room is more restaurant than medical facility.

Thanks to Menorah, I’m back to walking – to class, around the neighborhood and soon, in my graduation.
