Surrounding Jonathan with Love
The MJHS pediatric hospice program does good work for families – especially during those really tough moments when compassion and emotional support are crucial.
When my 9-year-old son Jonathan was first diagnosed with cancer, he was in and out of the hospital. When my family learned that MJHS, through its hospice, has a pediatric program, we were so relieved … my son could stay at home, surrounded by his brothers, sisters, mommy and daddy.
Thanks to our hospice medical team, my son was never in pain, the social worker helped my children understand what was happening, and the creative arts therapist encouraged the entire family to express their feelings through drawing and puppet shows.
On my little boy’s final day and in his final minutes, he was lying peacefully in my arms, surrounded by his siblings and completely enveloped in love.
