Bringing Peace to Qun Li

When his three-year battle with colon cancer resulted in metastasis, my dad, Wang Qun Li, came to MJHS Hospice. He received end of life care from a bilingual multi-disciplinary team, which helped my family’s Mandarin and English speakers remain actively involved in my dad’s care.

Impressed, my dad became an advocate of hospice care for the Chinese community. With the help of MJHS Foundation, he documented his end-of-life journey on camera so others could understand hospice. In addition to the video on YouTube, my dad left behind another precious gift. With a wit as sharp as his eyesight, he donated his corneas to a local eye bank.

Thanks to the peace and harmony of Ang Lin, the Asian hospice program at MJHS, hundreds of other families are receiving what my family did – compassionate, culturally sensitive care. And although his ashes are now resting in his hometown of Shanghai, China, my dad’s love of life and gift of hope will live on forever.
