Jewish Memorial Prayers

Following the same Jewish values that guided The Four Brooklyn Ladies in 1907, MJHS proudly continues to observe the customs associated with mourning and memorializing a loved one.

Fundamental to Jewish tradition is remembering loved ones through memorial prayers and reflection. Many choose to further honor their loved one’s memory through chesed and tzedakah, good deeds and acts of charity.

Remembrance Opportunities:

Kaddish Recitation, Yizkor and Yahrzeit ($1,000)

For a gift of $1,000, an MJHS rabbi will recite daily Kaddish prayers for 11 months in memory of your loved one.  During Yizkor services which occur during Pesach, Shavuot, Yom Kippur, and Sukkot, a memorial prayer will be offered in memory of your loved one.  Prayers of mourning, including Kaddish and Psalm 23, will be recited on the Yahrzeit of your loved one’s passing.

Yizkor and Yahrzeit ($360)

For a gift of $360, prayers will be offered during Yizkor services throughout the year in memory of your loved one.  These services occur during Pesach, Shavuot, Yom Kippur, and Sukkot.  Prayers of mourning, including Kaddish and Psalm 23, will be recited on the Yahrzeit of your loved one’s passing.

Yahrzeit Prayers ($180)

For a gift of $180, prayers of mourning, including Kaddish and Psalm 23, will be recited on the Yahrzeit of your loved one’s passing.

Yizkor on Yom Kippur ($100)

For a gift of $100, prayers will be said for your loved one at Yizkor services on the Day of Atonement.

Gift of Remembrance
