As you are getting ready for the rush of the Holidays and family gatherings MJHS is gearing up for one of our favorite times… the holiday celebration for our pediatric hospice patients and their families.
What started as a small toy collection ten years ago has now grown into a cherished annual tradition. Our MJHS care team dresses up in costumes, sings holiday songs, and delivers presents to each child from their wish list. Thanks to the generosity of our MJHS Young Leadership Council members and donors, almost 200 toys, games, and art supplies were purchased for our kids last year!
Mae was one of the children who enjoyed these gifts last year. She was one of our youngest patients when she began receiving care from MJHS. Mae’s parents immigrated to the United States. With no family nearby, the holidays were particularly difficult for them. Having gifts delivered to them by a care team member dressed up brought holiday cheer and lifted their spirits. It gave them a feeling of support and love while navigating their daughter’s care.
